Born in 1997, GWAK Dong-yeon initially aspired to a singing career and already had his band as a teenager. At the age of 13, he left his hometown Daejeon to try his chance in Seoul. Following a successful audition, he made his acting debut in 2012 as part of the cast for the TV drama series <My Husband Got a Family>. He landed his first lead role the next year in the 4-part high school drama <Puberty Medley> (2013), which was broadcast as part of the KBS Drama Special Series program. His supporting role in <MISBEHAVIOR> (2017) marked his first important role in cinema, but it was his role as the prince’s royal guard. In the period drama series <Love in the Moonlight> positioned him as a rising star to watch. Having not completely given up his first ambitions, he also started high school at the School of Performing Arts Seoul, with a specialization in Practical Music. He has since had a steady stream of roles, having appeared on the big screen in historical films <MAN OF WILL> (2017) and <Heung-boo: The Revolutionist> (2018), as well as in the sports drama film <Baseball Girl> (2020).
