A HARD DAY and HAN GONG-JU Among Winners
 
On December 17th, the 35th Blue Dragon Awards were held at the Seoul Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. Hosted by actors 
YU Jun-sang (
The Target) and 
KIM Hye-soo (
The Thieves [2012]), the awards recognized talents in 18 filmmaking categories. 
The Attorney, which was already stirring up a lot of talk prior to the awards due to its multiple nominations, ended up converting four of its eleven nominations.
 
 
In the Best Director category, the same titles were nominated, except for 
The Attorney which was replaced by 
The Pirates. Director 
KIM Han-min of 
Roaring Currents took home the honor. 
 
The Best Actress award went to rising star 
CHUN Woo-hee who played a very challenging character in 
Han Gong-ju. She put up a good fight against veteran actresses such as JEON Do-yeon and Kim Hee-ae.
 
A familiar face, 
CHO Jin-woong received the Best Supporting Actor prize for his role in 
A Hard Day. He has been in many projects lately, and will appear in few big upcoming titles such as HA Jung-woo’s 
Chronicle of a Blood Merchant and PARK Chan-wook’s 
Fingersmith.   
It’s no surprise that PARK Yoo-chun was awarded the New Actor Award as he has already been recognized by The Korean Association of Film Critics, the Grand Bell Awards and the Busan Film Critics’ Awards for his role in 
Haemoo. The New Actress Award went to young star 
KIM Sae-ron, who starred as a psychologically disturbed child in 
July JUNG’s 
A Girl at My Door.
 
On top of the Best Actress title, 
Han Gong-ju brought director 
LEE Su-jin the New Director award, while 
A Hard Day also took another trophy by being awarded for Best Screenplay for director and writer 
KIM Seong-hun.
 
On top of IM Si-wan, three more actors were noticed for their popularity. The Chungjungwon Popular Star Award takes votes from netizens online and went to
 SONG Seung-hun for 
Obsessed, 
KIM Woo-bin for 
Friend: The Great Legacy and 
SHIN Se-kyung for 
Tazza: The Hidden Card.
