Gunai, a children's book writer, comes to Korea to participate in a book signing event to commemorate the publication of his book. Still stuck in the memories of the Chilean military dictatorship, during which his father went missing, he meets Jaekyeong, the editor in charge of his book. For Jaekyeong and her older brother Jaerim, the disappearance of their grandfather in the 80s is still a fresh wound. These three become closer as they discover similarities between their pasts across different histories, and together with Hyeong-geun, who has lost a friend, they find a path to healing. But one day, the shadow of the violence they thought was behind them comes back to haunt them, and when Gunai witnesses how tragically the victims' families are suffering again, he is faced with a dilemma. After long deliberation, he chooses the path of mourning.
